The Examen

Downloads of Research and Sample Examen

In Episode 6 & 7 of Post-Traumatic Growth, with Dr. Gerry Crete, Dr. Thomas Plante introduced the Examen, a five-step daily prayer from St. Ignatius of Loyola. The Examen helps people reflect on their day with God by noticing gratitude, reviewing thoughts and emotions, acknowledging where healing is needed, and choosing one small step toward greater love and purpose. The episode also explores research showing that Examen-based practices may support hope, meaning, emotional awareness, and mental health.
