CCSIP Certification™ — Training clinicians and chaplains in Catholic Christian Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy
Before we had a name, we had a conviction: the people sitting across from clinicians are not diagnoses to manage. They are whole persons, and they deserve care that honors all of who they are.
We saw what happens when care falls short: a clinician senses a spiritual dimension but has no training to go there, or a client’s deepest wound is the moral weight they carry. We couldn’t look away. So we started building.
We grounded our work in Catholic anthropology: the Church’s understanding of the human person as body, soul, and spirit, made in the image of God for flourishing. From it we built the BPSS-M model, giving clinicians structure, language, and evidence-based tools.
We lead with accompaniment, because people must feel safe before they can grow. We stand in the neglected middle, where most people live: not falling apart, but not thriving. The moral life is central to mental health, and healing bends toward flourishing.
ETHICAL, CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE CARE
Nearly 1 in 5 U.S. adults (19%) identify as Catholic, and almost half (47%) have a personal, family, or cultural connection to Catholicism (Pew Research Center, 2025).
For many clients, faith is where the deepest work happens. They need care that honors the whole person: faith, meaning, conscience, relationships, and dignity.
Most clinical training never teaches it. The Elijah Institute does.

THE BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL-SPIRITUAL-MORAL MODEL
Rooted in Catholic anthropology, the Church’s understanding of the human person as body, soul, and spirit, made in the image of God and created for flourishing. BPSSM adds the dimension most clinical models leave out: the moral.
